SLEIGH BELLS ROCKED

MILLVALE -- Sweat and inadvertent elbows were flying Wednesday inside Mr. Small's Theatre, as fans bounced and bobbed to the bodacious beats and super-sized guitar of Sleigh Bells.

The Brooklyn noise-pop band emphasized the noise, blasting songs tapped from both its full-length albums out of a stage-wide stack of Marshall amps topped by retina-scorching strobe lights.

Guitarists Derek Miller and Jason Boyer (a touring band member only) launched the show alone with the fiery opening riffs of "Demons". Moments later, singer Alexis Krauss sauntered onto the stage, in an art-school chic getup of frayed booty shorts, fishnets and a studded leather jacket she'd soon shed, revealing a loose and ready-to-be ripped T-shirt.

Sometimes smiling, sometimes snarling, Krauss was a dynamic stage presence, whipping around her black-mopped head with wild abandon to the band's sampled, loudly pulsating hip-hop-meets-metalcore beats. The sold-out crowd released its joy with a mix of head-banging and rap concert style arm-waving as the razor-sharp, Slayer-like riffage from Miller and Boyer justified one of the band's song titles, "True Shred Guitar."

Krauss encouraged fans to mosh, noting there weren't any signs forbidding it, but few took the bait.

She got a better response when asking, "You want to dance with me, Pittsburgh?"

The answer was yes, not that there was any room on the jam-packed floor for spectators to properly move their feet.

So, Krauss met them on their turf, leaning on the outstretched hands of fans. She fearlessly crowd surfed on the pre-encore, Funkadelic-sampling "Rill Rill," neatly flipping from her back to her front while still held aloft horizontally by the adoring crowd.

By the end of the band's three-song encore, a few dozen fans, mostly female, breached the stage, finally getting to dance along with Krauss, who seemed amused.

Sleigh Bells' previous Pittsburgh visit was to Brillobox, Krauss said, now they're filling Mr. Small's.

As word spreads about such magnetic performances, bigger crowds seem to be inevitable.

Pitchfork stabbed

The Sleigh Bells Rein of Terror continuos as they lornched a three pronged attack on the pitchfork festival. Alexias  is left breathless by thrash metal legend Jason Boyor Dereks old idol from Posion the Well who brings even more tats attitude and metal to the bells.

Here the duo meet star of the film "dark-man' Nicolas Worth who plays gay ganstar 'Paulie'. The band wrote the song Never Say DIe about Nic as even though he is dead IRL n dark-man he appears alive right next to  his caracters dead bodie from falling ontop of a car on the street.

Saterday Night Alive

D Maxxx & Lexi chuckle like mischivus school kids outside the principles office during there triumphant SNL appearence. Guest hosts Maya Angela and River Como are flabbergasted for what to say in this wild moment of live TV!

For a period Derek blew away peoples expectations by dressing as a preppy and the people couldn't believe such a clean cut boy could be so wild and a vessle for such havoc. Here he is does a sign of the devil to csmera while Alexi is suspendid midair like the exersist.

Shortly after the onstage mishap with his axe Alexi gets her own back. She blindsided Derek during an interview with Zane Low but Derek just grined because he's taken on such tougher assaylents in the american hardcore seen.

Raining Blood

This is the legendry moment when the cover of 'rein of terror' was born. Derek acsidentally jabs Alex in the privits with the nub of his guitar causing her to bleed a on her keds. It was nothing seerius but it makes for a jaring image and war metarphor.

With a Bitch Betwix

Derek has to swerve his head away from the heat-power coming out of the marshall stack amps that is so powerful it is causing the marshals to overheat. Sleigh Bells don actually play live and have a back track but its so loud it has the same ferosserty.

Derek is often disgusted with his popularerty and longs for the days of Poise and the well but knows that he is bringin gpunk to the mainstream so he has to carry on and do it for the fans.
